What is UJN

Founded in 1948, University of Jinan is a key comprehensive university under joint administration by Chinese Ministry of Education and Shandong Provincial Government. The university is named after Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. It offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral Degree programs. Currently, the enrolment of students is about more than 38,000. UJN boasts four campuses, covering an area of over 600 acres and total construction area of 1,020,000 square meters.

Where is UJN

UJN is located in Jinan, capital city of Shandong Province. The province is steeped in profound Chinese history and culture. This beautiful and historical land features three wonders, renowned and prestigious around the world. Firstly, magnificent Mount Tai stands in Taian city, 70 km south of Jinan. Crowned as the top of the Five Famous Mountains in China, Mount Tai has a long history and a special historic status, reflecting Chinese spirit and tradition in a sense and to some extent. Secondly, Confucius is one of the greatest of ancient Chinese educators and thinkers, who initiated the well-known, world-wide influential philosophy of Confucianism. The Master was born in Qufu city more than 2500 years ago. Thirdly, the Yellow River is the second longest river in China and the fifth longest one in the world, flowing approximately 5500 kilometers through 9 provinces. It is called the Mother River, and its areas and stretches is one of the origins and cradles of Chinese civilization.

How to Get to UJN

You are more than welcome to come to UJN as our distinguished guests. UJN is adjacent to Beijing, the capital of China, the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, and the attractive coastal city of Qingdao. You can arrive in the City of Jinan, where UJN is located by air or by land. You can take plane from Beijing to Jinan, covering a distance of 495 km within 1 hour; 968 km from Shanghai to Jinan within 1.5 hours; and 3000 km from Hong Kong to Jinan within 2.5 hours. By land, you can take a high-speed train from Beijing to Jinan within 1.5 hours; from Shanghai to Jinan within 3.5 hours; and from Qingdao to Jinan within 2.5 hours.

Brief Introduction

Since founded in 1948, University of Jinan has adhered firmly to its motto of “Resolution, Erudition, and Pursuit of Truth and Excellence”.

Mr. Song Jian is one of the most outstanding representatives, who is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, is the former Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

At present, the university boasts 23 schools and 3 postdoctoral research stations, 5 first-level disciplines for doctoral degree programs, 25 first-level academic-oriented master’s degree programs and 22 course-oriented master’s degree. The university offers about 70 specialties for bachelor’s degree programs every year. Totally the specialties cover economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, medicine, management science and arts. Currently, the number of full-time students amounts to 38,000, including undergraduates, postgraduates and international students.

In recent years, the University has made great achievements in teaching quality, academic and scientific research. The related disciplines and specialties have been further strengthened and faculties of teaching have been greatly improved. It is comprehensive in its strength, competitiveness and social influence. 7 disciplines, including chemistry, material science, clinical medicine, engineering, biology & biochemistry, environment/ecology and pharmacology & toxicology, have ranked in the Top 1% of ESI. 11 majors have passed the Engineering Education Professional Certification, which are Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Materials and Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Composite Materials and Engineering and Chinese Language and Literature.
